“Best new” in Logan Square

Logan Square represents best new restaurants and bars

More kudos! are in order for some new and notable Logan Square businesses.

The Chicago Reader “Best New Restaurants of 2008” highlights Takashi as “mostly terrific,” and gives honorable mention to Real Tenochtitlán for its “higher-end panregional Mexican cuisine.”

Additional honorable mentions were given to the “aesthetically delectable” Duchamp, and to The Bristol’s “potential as the kind of neighborhood beer hall everyone deserves to have within walking distance.”

In an interesting twist, in “Follow That Chef,” the Reader also asked top chefs where they would be eating if they got a night off, and The Bristol again looms large. Another top choice of the top chefs is neighboring newcomer UrbanBelly in Avondale.

Not to be outdone, the Newcity “Best of Chicago 2008” list names the “exercise in swankery” that is The Whistler as its best new bar, while the Newcity audience also chose UrbanBelly as the best new restaurant.
