In the category of “The Bar With Very Good Food” (because “strong drink demands food”), Esquire magazine has named Longman & Eagle one of “The Best Bars in America 2010.”
Not just best in Chicago, mind you, but one of the best places to drink in these United States. Kudos!
In addition to the very good food, Longman & Eagle prides itself on a fine selection of bourbons, including the Pappy Van Winkle 20 and George Dickel No. 12, also recommended by Esquire in the category of “Interesting Things to Order at Bars that Have Everything.”
Metronome street and music festival: Saturday and Sunday, June 12-13,

I just ate there. As someone who worked in the fine-dining world for about 14 years, I have to say that this place was fan-f*&$ing-tastic. I had the roasted marrow bones (Note to self: make these at home and save $$$.) and the pork belly “porchetta” which my wife kept stealing. GO HERE!
