Kick it up a notch and experience the Graffiti Battle at the Advance Basic Concept Gallery and Stage at 6:00 p.m. At your leisure, head over to experience a different kind of contemporary art at the Danny Think Tank gallery.
On Saturday, get your festival groove on with Peabody & Sherman at the Main Stage at 11:30 a.m. Maybe migrate over to the Sulzen Fine Arts Studio to see Black. White. Red. Yellow. Let loose your own artistic expression with the Community Mural Activity all afternoon. See Light on Lines light up the night at 9:00 p.m.
On Sunday, size up the art at Big and Small. Be tempted vicariously watching “Subida al cielo” (“Ascent to Heaven” a.k.a. “Mexican Bus Ride”) at 2:00 p.m. at the Chicago Independent Film Festival. Get swept away at The Chicago Ballet Center at 4:00 p.m. Then bring your dancing feet back to the Main Stage at 8:30 p.m. for Angel Melendez & The 911 Mambo Orchestra.
Fuel your art exploration at neighborhood restaurants (many will offer food to go/para llevar). [Update: or check out the pop-up restaurant at Logan Square Kitchen; see A Mention – Attention in right column.] Stumble upon businesses new and old you didn’t know were there. These are just a few suggestions for taking in at the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival. There’s much more art , music and performance to delight at every turn.
