Book discussion begins Thursday, July 17, at 7 p.m.

Read, walk, and support the local economy

Deep Economy book coverThe Logan Square Library, with the promotional assistance of Logan Square Walks, is undertaking a unique book club discussion of Bill McKibbon’s Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future.

I haven’t read the book yet, but it is touted as “an impassioned call to arms for an economy that creates community.” Reviews say it discusses “creating localized economies,” “community-scale power systems,” and the “longing for community.” What better way to discuss these issues than in the context of our own local economy.
